MY PHANTOM 8737... RTB AND A POSTFLIGHT...
I hope these photo's will bring back some memories for all you that served in SEA...Most of us were young men between the ages of 18-22, in a land that we had only seen and heard of in the "news media". Little did we realize that sooner or later we would be caught up in this war which was spreading throughout South East Asia, far away from our loved one's and friends. I can remember many a lonely night out on the ramp working the dog shift, when my thoughts would be of home, and my car, and a nice cool place to sleep in. We learned real fast how much we had back home, and all the things we had taken for granted...
More importantly though, we knew that our country needed us, and we answered the call when it came. Most of us did our time there, and returned home to our families. But there were some who didn't....
I can only pray that our country will not forget the one's lost, and the Brothers unaccounted for, with family members still searching of their fate. Let us never forget the price of war, and these men and women who made the supreme sacrifice, so that our country could remain free.
So I ask, as you visit these pages to keep in mind the price which was paid in order for us to enjoy the freedom we have today....GOD BLESS AMERICA
These are just a few of the photo's I took while at Udorn in 1973-74. I have many more which are on slides but still have to convert them to prints...I hope that these bring back some memories for you.....
Remember this??? After a long hard week on the flight line, it was good to go out for a few beers and whatever...Here's a shot I took one night after coming back from the NCO Club. Me and a couple of other running buddies were in the barracks shooting the breeze about 0100 in the morning when all of a sudden we heard this "kerplunk" outside...This is what we found, so I ran got my camera and took this shot....Well hell, at least he found the right barracks, ching ching? Hehehehe....
Ahhh, the memories!!
